Gardening FAQ’s
Fall:
Spring:
What could I be
planting in my vegetable garden in late March?
Vegetables--It is still a little early to safely
plant warm season crops like tomatoes, peppers,
cucumbers, squash, beans, etc., but there it is
still a good time to plant cool season crops
like onions, lettuce, spinach, radishes and cole
crops.
When should I first
fertilize my perennials?
Fertilizing landscape plants--Spring is a good
time to fertilize landscape plants, especially
if you didn't apply anything last fall.
Fertilome Gardener's Special is great for
perennials and Fertilome Tree and Shrub Food is
perfect for woody landscape plants.
Should I cut back all
of my ornamental grasses from the previous years
growth?
Ornamental Grasses--If you haven't
already cut back your ornamental grasses, now is
the time to get it done.
Perennials--Spring is great time to
divide and transplant most perennials.
