Skinner Garden Store opened its doors for
the first time in the Spring of 1956, managed by
Don Roepke. Don, a recent landscape architecture
graduate from Kansas State University, brought
with him ideas that helped build the newly
created garden center. In 1970, he purchased the
business and continued as sole owner until 1990,
when Jack Rees, his long time nursery manager,
became his partner. Jack, a K-State horticulture
graduate himself, brought with him extensive
horticultural experience gained through years of
involvement in his family’s commercial orchard
operation. Together they continue to operate
Skinner’s, always striving to meet the needs of
an ever changing gardening community. |
